READY, SET, SLOW!
Holidays fast approaching, local interior designer Christy Ramón looks back on the last two years - and invites us to stop, take stock, and relish.
Tell me - what kind of car do you drive? Forgive the intrusion, but it’s likely that you might have sprung for an upgraded package even though you don’t think of yourself as a ‘fancy’ person. Time is precious, so you prioritize your experiences; you may spend lavishly on your family, vacations, milestones, and mementos. But what about all the moments in between?
Now more than ever, we live and work and play at home; due to the pandemic, we may have realized how much room for opportunity lies in our homes: why do we invest so heavily in our portfolios in an effort to buoy our retirements when most of our lives and memories are being made right this very second?
Make the changes you‘ve always envisioned now. A rule of thumb: your home’s value should not begin and end at the curb.
Most people don’t like the idea of spending money recklessly, but we all recognize value; so what’s stopping you from creating the atmosphere of your dreams in your very own home?
As our favorite neighbor, Ferris Bueller, once said - “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you’ll miss it.” This holiday season, let’s all pause and pinch ourselves: even if we never intend to change our dusty old pillows, even if custom wreaths, sofas, wallcoverings, and greenery aren’t your thing (but call me if they are!), relish these moments. The memories you’ll capture on film and the memory reels you’ll play in your brain will flicker for all time with beauty, freshness, and ambiance.
